On the journey to a more sustainable future, 2GCPR has reached an important agreement with the Portuguese company Plastcircular for a new chemical plastics recycling plant.
The facility will be located in the industrial park of Sines (Portugal) and represents an investment of 14 million euros.
A major step forward for plastic recycling
The plant will start operating with an initial capacity of 15,000 tonnes of plastic waste per year, gradually increasing this figure to 40,000 tonnes per year within five years time. This project is in line with the commitment to leverage sustainability through chemical recycling and reduce the amount of plastic waste that ends up in landfill.
Project timeline
Construction work is scheduled for December 2024 and once completed will ensure that the plant operates with maximum efficiency from day one.
Technological innovation
This will be the second plant to incorporate 2G’s revolutionary technology, which now allows the recycling of plastics that previously was deemed non-recyclable. Thanks to this innovation, a broader range of plastic waste can be processed, making a significant contribution to reducing landfill waste and its environmental impact.
More projects in the pipeline
The agreement between 2G and Plastcircular signals the start of a national and international expansion, with plans to establish further facilities in the coming years. These efforts will support the continued transformation of plastic waste into valuable resources, helping to meet European environmental targets for plastic recycling.
